Tie-dye fun

Well we had about two nice days in a row this spring before it started to snow again (ughhhh) anyway we decided to do a fun outdoor project. So this is all you need: coffee filters, washable markers, and some water.
Make a fun pattern, the more colors the better!

Then paint them with good old fashion tap water..... and.....

if you have some sunshine lay them out to dry, if not air drying works too.

Easiest Edible Finger Paint

We looove to have a project especially when it's a little chilly to play outside (will summer ever come?). We found this easy recipe for edible finger paint and I think I had as much fun eating and painting as my four year old {ha ha}.

All you need is light corn syrup and food coloring!!! We used one tbs of syrup per bowl and 2-3 drops of color.I was even more excited when I realized that it dried and was still really shiny! I know what you are thinking "the things that excite her" but hey it's the little thing in life right?

Gratitude

I try to keep my blog filled with ideas and tips and less about my personal life (yes I am one of those overprotective moms ha ha), but I had to take this chance to share this..............
It is so funny to me how a picture can bring on so many emotions. I was going through our photo's from our weekend camping trip and came across this one. I know I am going to sound crazy for a second but it's my blog so deal (lol), this picture made me feel so so lucky to live where I live and to be sharing my life with the family and friends that surround me. I know how did a silly little Caterpillar on my son's finger bring all of this on? I am still not sure. But I am sure that I am where I am supposed to be. Don't get me wrong I certainly don't have it all figured out but I am just feeling an overwhelming gratitude for everything that I have!! Ok thanks for indulging me or a moment, next post will be back to my regular scheduled programming {wink wink}.

A silly name banner

The other day we found ourselves in need of a serious "time filler". It was chilly outside and we were board. So this is what we ended up doing for over an hour. My son loooves scissors so I had him cut several pieces of construction paper in half. Then we put each letter of his name on a separate piece of paper and traced it with glue (ok so that was pretty self explanatory lol).

Then we covered the letters with all sorts of silly objects like jelly beans, tick tacks, rice, shell noodles, glitter, beads, and coriander (I had an unopened bottle ha ha). Then we let them dry and hung them on his cork board in his room. He had a blast with this project!

If you do this at home we would love to see pictures!!

Cookie Scraps

My work delivery this month was another fun project that I thought would be so cute to give away as a gift. Although as usual it couldn't just go smooth and easy (if you know me you know that I am never that lucky ha ha). The idea was to deliver sugar cookies for Easter. I had a local cafe/bakery make some cookies and specifically asked the size of the cookies so that I could purchase boxes that they would easily fit into. They happily told me that the cookies were three inches on each side and that they would be square. So I bought boxes that were three and a half inches and square (can you see where I am going with this....) I picked up my cookies (that were so pretty by the way) and was excited to get them home.

And yep you guessed it the cookies did not fit in the boxes. So with the limited budget that I have to work with I decided I would cut all 80 cookies by hand and make them fit....needless to say we had cookie scraps left over that I just had to sit on the couch later and eat (wink wink).

When all was said and done I think they actually looked even cuter with cut edges because that is the edge you could see through the box. I was so excited with the outcome. And I thought this would be so fun to bring to new neighbors or as a house warming gift!!

Happy Easter EVE

I was shocked that this turned out even a little. I saw this idea on http://www.ourbestbites.com/ (one of my favorite sites) for silk-dyed easter eggs. Next year I want to go to the thrift store and get all sorts of colors and patterns I am already so excited (ok now I know I am a little crazy ha ha).

A Juicy Summer Gift

I just had to share this simple idea that I put together for work last summer!! Fresh fruit in a bowl with a fun little tag and some toothpicks!! Who wouldn't want to get this, right? Oh I just realized how fun it would have been to include fruit dip (drats). I feel so lucky to have a job that allows me to do things just like this!

Needing a taste of spring!!

I wish I could explain to you the feeling up waking up to snow on the ground AGAIN this morning. When will the torture end?? I needed a splash of spring, so with that in mind my marketing delivery last month consisted of these "springy" tulips. Luckily the day that I delivered these the snow magically melted and the sun tried to peak through black haze of clouds that have been hovering since Halloween.

Popcicle stick house

So yesterday was one of those days that we needed a "time filler". You know those days when you just need a project to pass time and do something together? My son (who is four) and I busted out the hot glue gun and popcicle sticks and made this fun house.

Needless to say the actual building of the house seemed to entertain him so much more than actually playing with it. Isn't that always the way?

Fun Easter Gift

I hope that my post today will inspire you to take an Easter gift to a neighbor or a friend and I have such an easy idea for you. Or maybe this would be a fun gift to bring the hostess of Easter dinner or you could even bring it to the ladies you visit and teach.

I am lucky enough to have a fun small job in marketing that I can do mostly from home and (bonus) I get to use up some of my creative juices. I came across this picture of an Easter project that I made a year or two ago and thought it would be fun to share it with you.

The jar is filled with malted milk eggs and pistachios (yum licking my lips), am I the only one that loves something salty with something sweet? I wrapped the jar with some scrap paper and used a glue dot to attach my flowers. I am sure this isn't that last of my "work" stuff that you will be lucky enough to see (wink wink) but I hope you will be able to find a way to apply it to a fun project that you are planning to tackle.
