Valentines Day Projects

I thought I would share some of the projects we have been working on for Valentines Day.

These treats are part of my marketing delivery this month..

I love how the boxes turned out and they are the perfect size to stuff with little treats.

My next project was the Valentines for my son to take so school. I made some fun little tags and this is all I used….

Super simple but my son is really excited about them Smile

And last but not least we were asked by my sons teacher to create a box for his Valentines to go into as a family with a shoe box as the base. This is what we came up with after a great deal of google and pinterest searching (I can’t find the original source to give it credit) but this was our take on a monster box……

I also made a few more gifts out of those amazing caramels for some more deserving people for Valentines day. Enjoy!

Extra Sugary Sugar Cookies

I saw this amazing idea for adding color to regular sugar at Homemade Mamas and I couldn’t wait for an excuse to mix some up.

You use regular sugar and put it in a zip lock then add a few drops of food coloring…..

IMG_8535

Next shake it and squish it around to disperse the color…….

IMG_8538

After the color is mixed well dump the sugar out on parchment paper to dry out….. (Did you know you could do this? I love it)

IMG_8540 But the fun can’t end here right?! Now you have to make sugar cookies and use the sugar to decorate them.

IMG_8548 Do you have big plans for the 4th? Well tomorrow is my birthday so I have a good excuse to eat a bunch of these cookies and be lazy lol. And then Sunday we plan to have a BBQ with our own little fire works display. Have a fun and safe weekend!

Easter Carrot Treats

I finally finished and delivered my little treats for Easter. For anyone here that is new I am (sort of) in marketing and deliver these to local Doctors.

I used these supplies…….

IMG_8078(and some green cellophane I  forgot to photograph here)

and made these……………

I filled each carrot with pistachios and robin eggs (you have to have that salty sweet right?)  Happy Easter!!

Nesting

I know that I promised an Easter gift idea and I swear it’s still coming…….. but I can’t seem to get the decorative tag just right, so when I do it’s all yours. In the mean time I couldn’t wait to show off my latest obsession.

IMG_8095

It started with a  home made paper mache  mixture, tissue paper, and a few plastic eggs super glued together.

IMG_8083

My son doesn’t love to have his hands super messy (I know he’s a boy what’s up with that right?) but he still had fun creating his own eggs.

IMG_8088

I let them dry for about 24 hours. Then with some sticks, twigs, a tumbleweed, and yep that’s right hot glue I made some nests for these little guys.

IMG_8086

Put it all together and you’ve got…….

 IMG_8098

And here is my Son’s version (he refused to leave out any eggs lol)

My Valentine’s Topiary

I came across an AmAZing idea and tutorial for this Valentine's Topiary on one of my favorite blogs The Idea Room!! If you have never visited this blog you have to, it is filled with super cute ideas and fantastic directions.

I love the way my topiary came together. I haven’t decorated for Valentine’s Day yet so I just took a few random pictures of how it turned out. I hope you like it!

Christmas Twine Tree

I saw these Christmas-y Cones (with a fantastic tutorial) while I was blog surfing the other day and I totally fell in love with them. My husband was a good sport and even made them with me (I know he must want something big from Santa huh?).

I think they turned out pretty good!! So if you need a project this week this one is super simple and it’s like a little surprise to see how they turn out.

Christmas Cups

I am all about the homemade Christmas gifts. This is the gift I made last year.

It started out as this…..

IMG_5211

and turned into this…….

IMG_5213

IMG_5214

I filled the cups with cider, coffee, tea, biscotti, candy canes, and of course chocolates. My hubby helped me come up with the fun way to assemble all the hot drink and treats. I wrapped the cups in some of my favorite Christmas paper and bought the main supplies at Costco.  I will soon post what my gifts for this year will look like, oh and I finally have a plan for my Christmas cards and will share those soon too. Happy crafting!!

Caramel Apple Bucket

For my marketing/gift delivery this month I had this great idea to fill a bucket with caramel flavored treats and apple flavored treats. Well needless to say on the budget I had for this it was harder than I had anticipated lol. It is hard to find bulk apple flavored treats that I didn’t have to have shipped and that didn’t cost a fortune. So I ended up with this instead……………….

Ok so not exactly what I had planned but not bad.

Happy Easter EVE

I was shocked that this turned out even a little. I saw this idea on http://www.ourbestbites.com/ (one of my favorite sites) for silk-dyed easter eggs. Next year I want to go to the thrift store and get all sorts of colors and patterns I am already so excited (ok now I know I am a little crazy ha ha).

Fun Easter Gift

I hope that my post today will inspire you to take an Easter gift to a neighbor or a friend and I have such an easy idea for you. Or maybe this would be a fun gift to bring the hostess of Easter dinner or you could even bring it to the ladies you visit and teach.

I am lucky enough to have a fun small job in marketing that I can do mostly from home and (bonus) I get to use up some of my creative juices. I came across this picture of an Easter project that I made a year or two ago and thought it would be fun to share it with you.

The jar is filled with malted milk eggs and pistachios (yum licking my lips), am I the only one that loves something salty with something sweet? I wrapped the jar with some scrap paper and used a glue dot to attach my flowers. I am sure this isn't that last of my "work" stuff that you will be lucky enough to see (wink wink) but I hope you will be able to find a way to apply it to a fun project that you are planning to tackle.

Easter Egg Decorating Ideas

One family tradition that I love is our annual Easter egg decorating contest!! Here are some of my all time favorites from my Dad, my husband, and myself. I think this started as a "darkest" egg contest but as you can see we seemed to have upped our game. And the winner gets? Yep, that's right friends the right to gloat!
