We went to a family reunion a few weeks ago and had such a fun time. Part of the deal was that you were asked to bring something you made and they have a family auction to help cover some of the reunion costs (like the camping fee). I love this idea and it motivated me to get my sewing machine out and make this………
I used my favorite patter from The secret stitch club!!
I also had a chance to put together the birthday present my grandma got for me. She found this adorable kit for an apron from what she promises is the cutest fabric shop/boutique ever.
The kit came with everything you see here, isn’t it fun? And it turned out like this………
I don’t know if the seller of these cute kits has an etsy site but she does have a blog with a tutorial at The lazy Daisy cottage.
P.S. my five year old took the pictures and I thought he did pretty good considering the subject lol.
It’s official, I decided to jump on the rosette bandwagon! I have seen these amazing fabric flowers on everything from headbands, rings, and purses, to picture frames, t-shirts, and necklaces. Then my sister tells me that she is opening up an Etsy shop to sell her version of these amazing flowers (trust me hers are way cuter and sturdier than mine) so I will let you know as soon as she is up and running.
After absorbing all of this wonderful inspiration this is how mine turned out!!
I cut some fabric into strips and twisted the strips around a barbeque skewer to make my flowers. Then I hand stitched some of the pieces of the flower together so that they wouldn’t fall apart. Lastly I used some hot glue to attach felt to the backs.
I couldn’t decide what to do with my pretty little flowers and then I remembered I had a stash of old magnets that I could cut up and glue to the backs….
I love how they turned out!!
What is the best use that you have seen for these flowers?
One day I was blog surfing (gasp I know) and came across this fantastic tutorial for a tuxedo scarf at crafty habit. I ended up making two of these form the fabric suggested and I might even have enough for a third.
The first one I made seemed a little wide for my taste….
So I modified the width of the scarf and the ruffle by almost half and came up with this one that fits me perfectly. I love the purple and I love that it’s a little bit more dressy than the other styles I have!
What do you think? And what have you been sewing lately??
So I had this little idea to make a laptop cover out of an old jacket that didn’t fit anymore and I actually like it. It’s certainly not something that I use daily but if I need to throw it in a bag to take it somewhere it works great!!
I cut the zipper out and the hood and arms off and zig zag stitched it up the front and across the top.
And look I have cute little pockets for storage woot woot.
