I am so excited to tell you that my new friend Andrea at Patchwork Pages is hosting a giveaway to one of my favorite places and doing a feature about me (insert HUGE smile here). So please go check her out see what she has been up to, spread the word, and enter the giveaway :)
This is what I am currently working on……..I have that “one” cookbook that I shove all of my favorite recipes in……
and I can never find a thing!!
I decided to grab a binder and make myself a more functional version. Right now it looks something like this….
It’s taking me a while to type all of my recipes up and print them out….
but I think it will be totally worth it and I will have a digital backup of my recipes when I’m done too.
It’s still a huge work in progress but I really hope it will be easier to use when all is said I done. Oh and I picked paper that I love to look at, the bright colors always make me smile.
Where do you keep your recipes?
Ya' know Lacie this is something I have been wanting to do for so long!! This is great and an inspiration to me:) Happy Monday!!!!
ReplyDeleteright now i keep mine in one of those old school photo albums i got at target years ago with magnetic pages.. but its pretty sturdy in the kitchen :)
ReplyDeleteCute paper! I just did the same thing a couple of months ago, but I didn't type the recipes. It looks so much better typed out how you have it!
ReplyDeleteMy recipe book looks like your pre-makeover recipe book! Wanna do another? :)
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing with a recipe box. It makes it so much easier to update it with changes as I go along!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that! My MIL made me one of those for Christmas, and I am working through all of my cookbooks to find the ones I like so I can eventually get rid of all my cookbooks. I hate clutter, and would just like to have a huge binder full of JUST the recipes I like :)
ReplyDeleteYours is turning out so cute!
This is cute! A friend of mine got me a recipe organizer/binder for Christmas and I need to fill it yet. Right now everything is in a regular binder with plastic sleeves and my recipe cards are in a little box.
ReplyDeleteI have an award for you at http://thepracticalmomguide.blogspot.com/2010/04/its-award-time-again.html
You are a clever lady! Love visiting with you the other day. Let's do that again!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteMy recipes are all stuffed in a drawer. I should probably get to organizing them.
i'm ashamed to admit this..but i have about 100 recipes that i have typed up, but a box full that i haven't looked at in ages. it mocks me every time i walk past it. i sometimes wonder if i have the guts to just toss it out. i probably dont!
ReplyDeleteCute cookbook. I have a similar system of keeping mine in notebooks but I slip the recipes into plastic sleeves and then put them in my notebook.
ReplyDeleteI have made some handwritten cookbooks by adding my recipes to book with blank pages as gifts for my daughters to pass on my recipes to them. They make nice gifts and wonderful keepsakes, and I left blank pages open so they can continue to add to them.
Man oh man....
ReplyDeleteI keep mine in a binder too, but it is horribly disorganized. I've been trying to think of a better way and keep coming up empty. I think I'll give your way a try!
I think I need some little tabs too in order to separate main dishes from desserts and all that sort of thing.
Right now my recipe binder is just a mess. I'm sending out an SOS to myself!!
I love the print on the last pic with the recipe's. Super cute. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteah I have so been meaning to do that same thing, but the time is the problem :) looks super cute :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI have a huge unorganized binder with all the recipes I like. I should totally do what you are doing. It's a great idea..plus its totally cute! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou inspired me! I am going to do a recipe book too. I have a ton that I use and people ask for, it would be great to have them on the computer! Do you use a special program for printing yours? Or are they just on Word?
ReplyDeleteThanks!

ReplyDeletethis, like all of your ideas, is cute. i hope you enjoy making it. as for my recipes, they stay in my mother's cookbooks and recipe boxes, the handful of cookbooks i own, and the most important one (paula deen's bananas foster bread pudding) is on my blog (because my mother accidentally threw out the magazine, and i'm afraid she'd end up accidentally toss the loose sheet of paper that a friend had used to copy it for me).
ReplyDeletevery cute recipe binder! i'm pretty bad- i usually plug my laptop into the kitchen wall and just follow the recipe off the screen! :)
ReplyDeleteRight now I use a photo album to store my recipes in. Instead of inserting a picture I insert my recipe. Of course sitting next to that album is a stack of papers/recipes that I consider my "to be filed" pile.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I happen to know that you are a fabulous cook so I would love it if you would just email me a copy of all thos fantastic recipes you are typing up!
hi i'm here by way of sits, i like your blog, it kind of reminds me of mine. well maybe it's just because we have the same name and i like to craft about the things i attempt to make. way to organize those recipes, that's definitely on my to do list
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I shove them all into two books and can never find anything either! I got so bad that I write what page everything is on in the front cover. Might have to try your idea!
ReplyDeleteI hope you got my comment thanking you for my beautiful necklace!
OH and congrats on your feature! You're big time! I'm excited for you!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'm really not much of a cook, although I enjoy it. Most of my recipes are saved online, actually. Although I have a couple of binders with sheet protectors for recipes I use over and over. I just throw them in the sheet protector, which means I usually have to hunt!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by the other day!
I think your creativity is more endless than mine!
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm here by way of Andrea's Blog Patchwork.
ReplyDeleteI have the same shoved full cookbook that has now turned into a drawer that I can barely open. LOL
I hope to do something like you are soon. Thanks for the inspiration.
I have had the same "mess" as you, but I organized all my tear-out recipes into seasons (spring, summer, winter, fall) then put them in folders, from there I broke it donw more into appetizers, meats, etc. When I've made the recipe, I post it on my blog www.anniebakes.blogspot.com, then print it out and throw away the torn out piece of paper. Then I put everything into pretty binders so I have a complete archive of my blog printed out! stopping by from sits, anne
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! I love that picture of all the ladies wearing glasses and trying the food! Is it glowing hot with radiation or something? Lol.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love that! I need to get some organization for my recipes. This idea may be just the thing. I'm visiting from SITS. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a SUPER book! My mom keeps saying she wants to do something like that. I should bring this to her and help her make it. (I offered to help her do it all digitally, but she's a little computer challenged. Poor lady.)
ReplyDeleteFound you through SITS!
That's way prettier and more useful than my system of a big plastic tub in the closet ;-) Visiting from SITS and enjoying your crafty projects!
ReplyDeleteHad I read this post before your newest I would see you too are in 'changing over' mode!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the super cute pages to print the recipes on?? Love it!!
I use www.evernote.com for all my recipes, but I'm working on something like this for when my daughter graduates and leaves home.
